Ritholtz Wealth Management Launches Exclusive Porterhouse Equity SMA with Franklin Templeton
Ritholtz Wealth Management, a registered investment advisor managing $7.6 billion in assets, has announced the launch of a new equity separately managed account (SMA) strategy named Porterhouse. Developed in exclusive partnership with Franklin Templeton, this strategy is designed to complement Ritholtz’s existing asset allocation models. The Porterhouse strategy utilizes Franklin Templeton’s Canvas platform to actively manage portfolios through a quantitative process. It targets leading large-cap stocks within the Russell 1000 index by applying screens for strong price momentum and robust business fundamentals, such as earnings and cash flow. Inspired by CEO Joshua Brown’s investment philosophy, the approach focuses on concentration rather than diversification, aiming to hold only the highest-quality leading stocks. The model features dynamic flexibility, allowing it to increase concentration during favorable market conditions or shift assets into short-term Treasuries when qualifying opportunities are scarce. Portfolio manager Michael Batnick emphasized the strategy's disciplined yet flexible nature. This launch underscores the longstanding collaborative relationship between Ritholtz and Franklin Templeton, bringing a distinctive, research-backed investment option exclusively to Ritholtz clients.
