Ready infrastructure sealed India's 2030 Commonwealth Games bid, says Commonwealth Sport CEO
Commonwealth Sport CEO Katie Sadleir stated that India's existing world-class sporting infrastructure in Ahmedabad was decisive in securing the hosting rights for the centenary 2030 Commonwealth Games. The bid aligns with the governing body's new low-cost 'Games Reset' model adopted after Victoria's withdrawal. Sadleir praised India's passion for the Games and noted that indigenous sports like kabaddi, kho kho, mallakhamb, and yogasana are under consideration for inclusion. She dismissed concerns about the troubled 2010 Delhi Games, citing India's sporting transformation over the past 20 years. India, which ranks fourth in all-time Commonwealth medal tables, is also bidding for the 2036 Olympics.
