Quebec Police Arrest 23 Men and Seize 4 Million Images in Child Pornography Probe
Quebec provincial police, known as the Sûreté du Québec (SQ), have arrested 23 men aged between 26 and 73 in a major coordinated operation targeting child pornography. The suspects face charges related to the possession, distribution, and downloading of images depicting the sexual abuse of children. During the four-day operation, more than 160 officers from the SQ and local police forces in Montreal, Quebec City, Laval, Longueuil, and Gatineau conducted 25 searches. Authorities seized at least four million images of child sexual abuse and identified four victims. Seven of the arrested men remain in detention while all have appeared in court. Lt. Katherine Guimond, who heads the SQ division investigating online child sexual exploitation, emphasized that the operation resulted from serious collaboration among different police forces. This unified approach aims to strengthen efforts against online child sexual exploitation across the province. The case highlights significant law enforcement coordination in combating digital crimes involving the abuse of minors.
