Prime Accused in Bunty Yadav Kidnapping-Murder Case Injured in Police Encounter in Bihar
On July 16, 2026, the prime accused in the kidnapping and murder of grocery businessman Bunty Yadav, identified as Ravish, was injured in a police encounter in Patna, Bihar. Ravish had been absconding since Yadav's alleged abduction on July 6. Acting on a tip-off that Ravish was traveling by boat toward Nepal, police intercepted him at a river Ghat. He opened fire, hitting a police vehicle, and police retaliated, wounding him in the leg. He was hospitalized and is out of danger. Police seized the firearm used in the exchange. Patna SSP Kartikeya K. Sharma stated the crime appears linked to a rivalry between gangs involved in the illegal liquor trade. Ravish had prior jail time for liquor-related cases. Four other suspects remain at large, and efforts to arrest them are ongoing.
