Portimonense signs Jader and Italo Cabelinho on loan, faces FIFA transfer bans

Portimonense has secured the loan of three players from Santa Clara: right-back Edney Silva (returning for a second stint), winger Jader, and center-back Italo Cabelinho. Jader, 22, was signed by Santa Clara in 2024 but has been loaned to clubs in Chile and Brazil without playing for the Azoreans. Italo Cabelinho, also 22, developed in Santa Clara's youth teams without a first-team debut. Additionally, defender/midfielder Thauan Lara moves permanently to Portimonense with shared rights. Other reinforcements include goalkeeper Young (São Paulo) and winger Gonçalo Águas (União de Santarém), with winger João Mendes (son of Ronaldinho) potentially joining from Hull City's U21s. Portimonense president Rodiney Sampaio stated that departures of players like Tiago Mamede, Danio, and Francisco Canário require 'very advantageous proposals.' The club is negotiating payment agreements to resolve five active FIFA transfer bans, with debts involving Celtic, Juventude de Caxias, and former U23 players. Sampaio also confirmed that an insolvency request by Felgueiras was dismissed by the Lagoa Court as unfounded, though a smaller acknowledged debt remains to be settled.
