Physical AI is now mainstream, reveals TCS survey
Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) released its Physical AI Readiness Report 2026, revealing that while Physical AI is becoming mainstream in manufacturing, adoption remains uneven. The survey of 300 CXOs and VPs from North American and European manufacturing companies found that 68% have no active deployment or only experimental activity, and only 9% have successfully scaled pilots. However, 25% identify Physical AI as a core priority, and no surveyed organization plans to reduce investment. TCS emphasizes that success depends on data integration, legacy modernization, workforce capability, governance, and accountability. High impact is expected in warehouse operations (77%), assembly and manufacturing (75%), and logistics (72%). The report highlights a human-centric transformation, with 42% expecting significant workforce augmentation through improved safety and support in complex environments.
