Online taxi drivers in Kerala end strike on most apps but continue Uber boycott
A section of online taxi operators in Kerala, represented by the All Kerala Online Drivers Union Alliance (AKODUA), ended their three-day indefinite 'offline strike' on July 24, 2026, resuming services on platforms like Kerala Savari and Rapido. However, drivers continue their offline strike against Uber, demanding a reduction in commission rates, fare revision according to government norms due to rising fuel and maintenance costs, and an end to arbitrary ID locking based on customer feedback. Around 30,000 drivers, primarily in Kochi and Thiruvananthapuram, are involved. Union leaders stated that drivers have been instructed to switch on all mobility apps except Uber, and further talks with Uber officials are scheduled for the following week. Online autorickshaws were not affected by the strike.
