Nvidia Billionaire Mark Stevens Donates $175 Million for New Medical School

Nvidia director and venture capitalist Mark Stevens, along with his wife Mary, have donated $175 million to establish the Mark & Mary Stevens School of Medicine. This new institution is a joint venture between Sutter Health and Santa Clara University, marking the first new medical school in the San Francisco Bay Area in over a century. The 82,000-square-foot campus will be located in Santa Clara, near Nvidia's headquarters, and aims to enroll approximately 120 students per class after completing accreditation. This contribution represents the largest gift ever received by both Santa Clara University and Sutter Health. The donation follows closely on the heels of a separate $200 million commitment by the couple to the University of Southern California for AI research. These gifts are part of a broader trend of significant donations targeting AI and healthcare education, including recent major contributions to the University of Texas at Austin and the University of Wisconsin–Madison.
