Nigerian Striker Sunday Adetunji Switches International Allegiance to Sudan
Former Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) striker Sunday Adetunji has officially switched his international football allegiance from Nigeria to Sudan. The 26-year-old forward, who currently plays for Sudanese club Al-Hilal Omdurman, is now eligible to represent the Sudanese national team. This decision ends any potential future involvement with Nigeria's Super Eagles, for whom he made a single senior appearance in a 2021 friendly match against Mexico. Adetunji's professional career began in Nigeria with clubs such as Abia Warriors, Enyimba, and Rivers United. He gained significant recognition after moving to North Macedonia in 2021 to join KF Shkupi, where he finished as the league's top scorer with 20 goals and helped secure the club's first-ever title. Following a stint with Serbian side FK Čukarički, he transferred to Sudan in September 2023. His established presence in Sudan's domestic league facilitated the change in nationality, marking a new chapter in his career as he aims to contribute to Sudan's international football efforts.
