New York City Named America's 'Sin Capital' of 2026, Surpassing Las Vegas
A new 2026 study by PokerTube has designated New York City as the most sinful city in the United States, overtaking Las Vegas for the top spot. The ranking was determined by analyzing over 200 US cities using an index that combined geospatial, demographic, and public health data. Key factors included the density of nightlife venues such as bars, clubs, and adult entertainment stores, alongside high rates of sexually transmitted infections (STIs) and a large population of single residents. NYC recorded the highest concentration of nightlife venues and significant STI rates, including 558.4 chlamydia cases per 100,000 residents. Baltimore, Maryland, secured the second position due to its high proportion of single men and alarming STI statistics, while Chicago took third place. Surprisingly, Las Vegas, traditionally known as Sin City, ranked only eighth, as its resident population exhibits lower single rates and STI levels compared to East Coast counterparts. The report highlights a shift in urban vice metrics, emphasizing public health and demographic behaviors over traditional gambling infrastructure.
