New Ebola Outbreak Confirmed in Conflict-Ridden DRC Province

The African Center for Disease Control and Prevention (Africa CDC) has officially confirmed a new outbreak of the Ebola virus in the Democratic Republic of Congo. The outbreak is currently affecting Ituri province, located in the northeastern part of the country along the border with Uganda. Ituri is known as a stronghold for the Allied Democratic Forces (ADF), a jihadist militia group responsible for repeated massacres and security disruptions.
