National Guard signs $290 million apartment contract for Washington D.C. troops
The National Guard Bureau has signed a $292 million contract with corporate lodging company Placemakr to provide 2,000 apartment-style units for National Guardsmen mobilized in Washington, D.C. Originally launched in August 2025 with 800 troops under President Trump's order to bolster local law enforcement, the mobilization has expanded to 4,755 Guardsmen from 15 states.
