Mumbai Cop Threatens to Plant Drugs on Protesting Students; Police Order Probe
The Mumbai Police have ordered an inquiry and transferred a policeman from his posting after a viral video showed him threatening protesting students. In the video, the uniformed driver at Sion Police Station tells two youths, 'If I see you around here again... I will directly plant 50 grams of powder. Then your life is gone. You won't get bail.' The Congress memorandum alleges that between July 20-22, 2026, police illegally detained 500-700 students aged 16-30 from metro stations, public roads, and their homes without any prohibitory orders in force. It claims false FIRs were registered and students' phones were accessed without court orders. At least 200-300 students remain detained in various police stations. The Congress demands immediate release of all students, withdrawal of false cases, and suspension of involved officers.
