Mühlhausen's Quellenpark Redesigned After €8.9 Million Investment

The Quellenpark in Mühlhausen, Thuringia, has been officially reopened as a modernized leisure and recreation area following a comprehensive renovation project costing approximately 8.9 million euros. The redesign was unveiled to the public on Ascension Day, marking the completion of significant infrastructure upgrades. Key improvements include the construction of a new lakeside promenade and a dedicated building serving as both a tourist information center and an environmental education hub. The state Ministry of Economic Affairs highlighted that the revamped Spring Park now effectively combines nature, culture, and tourism offerings near the old town, with future plans to host cabaret events and cultural activities. The state government contributed around 6.2 million euros to support this municipal initiative. Officials emphasized that the investment aims to bolster Mühlhausen’s status as a key tourism destination within the UNESCO World Heritage region of Wartburg-Hainich. By enhancing the historic city center's appeal, the project seeks to attract more visitors and provide improved recreational facilities for locals, integrating natural landscapes with cultural engagement opportunities in the heart of Thuringia.
