Mueller Industries beats Q2 estimates on strong demand and copper prices
Mueller Industries Inc. reported stronger-than-expected second-quarter results on July 21, 2026, beating Wall Street forecasts for both earnings and revenue. Adjusted earnings were $1.13 per share, above the consensus estimate of $1.05, while revenue rose 25% year-over-year to $1.43 billion, exceeding expectations of $1.27 billion. Net income increased to $249.7 million. Growth was driven by higher unit volumes across all three reporting segments and pricing increases reflecting higher raw material costs, with COMEX copper averaging $6.16 per pound, up 30.6% from a year ago. CEO Greg Christopher cited strengthening demand in commercial, industrial, and electrical markets, along with strong backlogs. The company completed two acquisitions during the quarter: Bison Metals Technologies for $138.3 million and Chicago Extruded Metals. Mueller ended the quarter with $1.42 billion in cash and a current ratio of 4.8 to 1, providing financial flexibility. Shares gained 1.75% in pre-market trading.
