Meta Rolls Out Virtual Writing and Display Recording to Ray-Ban Display Users
Meta is expanding the capabilities of its Meta Ray-Ban Display smart glasses by releasing several new features to all users. The most significant update is the general availability of virtual writing, which allows users to compose messages using hand gestures detected by a neural wristband. This feature is now supported across WhatsApp, Messenger, Instagram, and native Android and iOS messaging apps. Previously limited to early access, this technology aims to enhance hands-free communication. Additionally, Meta introduced 'display recording,' enabling users to capture video that combines their real-world view, the lens display content, and surrounding audio. Navigation features have also expanded, with walking directions now available throughout the United States and in major international cities such as London, Paris, and Rome. Live captions are now accessible for voice messages on Instagram DMs, WhatsApp, and Facebook Messenger. Furthermore, Meta has opened a developer preview, allowing creators to build and deploy web applications specifically for the Ray-Ban Display platform, signaling a broader ecosystem push for its wearable technology.
