Meta Ray-Ban Display Glasses Add Air-Typing and Developer Tools

Meta Platforms has released a significant software update for its Meta Ray-Ban Display smart glasses, introducing neural handwriting technology that allows users to type messages by waving their fingers in the air. This feature utilizes a neural wristband to track subtle hand gestures, translating them into text inputs across major platforms like WhatsApp, Messenger, Instagram, and native mobile messaging apps. The update aims to enhance the device's daily utility by reducing reliance on smartphones for communication. Additional features include display recording, which captures the user's view and audio for content creation, improved navigation support in cities such as London, Paris, and Rome, and expanded live captioning for voice conversations. Meta also announced the opening of its platform to developers, providing a Wearables Device Access Toolkit and support for lightweight web apps using standard web technologies. Since the product's launch six months ago, Meta has shipped four major updates, adding widgets for weather, stocks, and calendar management, alongside faster access to Spotify and Instagram Reels. This move underscores Meta's strategy to integrate AI-powered wearables more deeply into everyday digital interactions.
