Ex-Met Officer Calls for Commissioner's Resignation Over Palestine Comments

Nusrit Mehtab, a former Scotland Yard superintendent, has called for the resignation of Metropolitan Police Commissioner Sir Mark Rowley, accusing him of blurring the lines between operational policing and political positioning. Mehtab argues that Rowley is selectively targeting specific protests while ignoring others, such as far-right rallies, thereby creating a perception of bias and aligning with right-wing politics. She further criticized his response to the Golders Green stabbing incident, where Rowley attacked Green Party leader Zack Polanski for questioning police conduct. Mehtab, who previously accused the Met of institutional racism and sexism during her tenure, contends that Rowley’s inability to address these internal issues compromises his impartiality.
