Massachusetts Shooter Released from Psychiatric Hospital Days Before Rampage

Tyler Brown, a 46-year-old man with a significant criminal history and diagnosed mental health issues, allegedly opened fire on vehicles along Memorial Drive in Cambridge, Massachusetts, injuring two men. Authorities report that Brown had been released from McLean Hospital in Belmont just three days prior to the incident. During the rampage, Brown fired over 60 rounds from an assault rifle while expressing suicidal intentions and boasting about past unpunished murders to his parole officer via FaceTime. The parole officer alerted authorities after receiving screenshots of Brown brandishing the weapon. Brown, who had previously been convicted of attempting to kill a Boston police officer, was subdued by a state trooper and a Marine veteran. He now faces multiple charges, including armed assault with intent to murder. Investigators stated there is no known link between the shooter and the victims.
