Massachusetts House Passes Bill Loosening Late-Term Abortion Restrictions
The Massachusetts House of Representatives passed bill H.5595 on Wednesday, which loosens restrictions on late-term abortion access. The bill passed with a vote of 119-33 and now moves to the state Senate. If approved by the Senate, the legislation would allow abortions after 24 weeks of pregnancy, provided a doctor approves the procedure. The bill was announced by state House Speaker Ronald Mariano, a Democrat. The vote reflects ongoing legislative efforts in Massachusetts to expand abortion access, particularly in the context of post-Roe v. Wade debates in the United States.
