Mahir Emreli Moves to Poland on Loan; Nuremberg Return Briefly Considered
Former 1. FC Nuremberg striker Mahir Emreli (29) has moved on a one-season loan (with purchase option) from 1. FC Kaiserslautern to Polish top-flight club Raków Czestochowa, ending any possibility of a return to Nuremberg. The emotional Azerbaijani international, who scored 11 goals in 25 games for Nuremberg before leaving in 2025, had been the subject of fan speculation about a comeback. According to BILD, Nuremberg briefly considered re-signing Emreli last winter and had contact with his representatives, but the idea was rejected primarily due to his high salary at Kaiserslautern. Emreli himself could have imagined a return and is said to still somewhat regret his Nuremberg departure. The move to Poland was finalized on July 19, 2026.
