LYCRA Company and Dukane Showcase Ultrasonic Bonding Advances at INDEX™ 26

The LYCRA Company and Dukane are jointly presenting their latest co-developed innovations in ultrasonic bonding technologies for the nonwovens sector at INDEX™ 26 in Geneva, Switzerland. A key highlight of this collaboration is the debut of LYCRA FUSION™ fiber, specifically adapted for personal care applications. Originally designed for hosiery to prevent runs, this fiber features a sheath/core construction that allows it to fuse directly with nonwoven layers during the ultrasonic bonding process. This integration strengthens bond integrity and provides superior snapback performance without the need for hot-melt adhesives. The partnership, ongoing since 2014, aims to help hygiene product manufacturers, particularly in the diaper industry, enhance product softness, fit, and performance while simultaneously reducing energy consumption, material waste, and maintenance costs. By combining LYCRA’s fiber expertise with Dukane’s patented rotary and rigid ultrasonic systems, the companies offer a high-speed, adhesive-free assembly solution that ensures precise elastic placement and consistent product quality. This development marks a significant step in expanding technical capabilities for commercial scale-up in the hygiene industry.
