LYCRA Company and Dukane Debut Ultrasonic Bonding Tech at INDEX™ 26

The LYCRA Company and Dukane are showcasing their latest co-developed advances in ultrasonic bonding technology at INDEX™ 26 in Geneva, Switzerland. The collaboration highlights the debut of LYCRA FUSION™ Fiber for personal care applications, designed to enhance diaper manufacturing by improving product softness, fit, and performance. This innovative fiber features a sheath/core construction that fuses with nonwoven layers during the ultrasonic bonding process, strengthening bonds and delivering superior yarn creep without using adhesives. By pairing this fiber with Dukane’s patented rotary and rigid ultrasonic bonding systems, manufacturers can achieve precise elastic placement and consistent product performance while eliminating the variability associated with traditional hot-melt adhesives. Since 2014, the two companies have worked together to reduce energy consumption, material waste, and maintenance costs in the hygiene industry. Executives from both firms emphasized that this adhesive-free approach supports sustainable production and commercial scale-up. The technologies are being presented at their respective stands at the INDEX™ 26 trade show, aiming to drive broader adoption of efficient, high-speed assembly methods in the nonwovens market.
