London Stock Exchange unveils 'LSE24' round-the-clock trading venue
The London Stock Exchange (LSE) has announced plans to launch a 24-hour trading venue called LSE24, aiming to attract retail investors who have shifted to crypto and overseas markets. Operated by LSEG, the venue will trade 24 hours a day, five days a week, separately from the Main Market. Client testing is expected by end of 2026, with Exchange Traded Products (ETPs) as the first asset class. The move comes as the LSE struggles with a wave of company exits and overseas takeovers, with the total value of exits and bids in the first half of the year being 27 times greater than new listings. Foreign buyers account for 86% of deal value, and several major firms like Beazley, Schroders, Rotork, and Easyjet have agreed to takeover deals at significant premiums.
