LeBron James Plans Helicopter Commute Like Jens Lehmann After Blockbuster Transfer
Following his blockbuster transfer from the Los Angeles Lakers to the Philadelphia 76ers, NBA superstar LeBron James reportedly plans to live in New York City and commute to Philadelphia by helicopter, a strategy compared to former German goalkeeper Jens Lehmann. Lehmann, during his time at VfB Stuttgart, lived near Munich and flew by helicopter to training to save time and be with family. The 150-kilometer flight between New York and Philadelphia takes about 45 minutes, versus 90 minutes by car. James would not be the first Sixers player to do this; J.J. Redick commuted from Brooklyn during his tenure, and Wilt Chamberlain also lived in New York while playing for Philadelphia. NBA insider Shams Charania noted that this commuting option made Philadelphia more attractive to James.
