At least 930 people have died in the Democratic Republic of Congo's Ebola outbreak, according to the country's Ministry of Health. The deaths were recorded among 2,344 confirmed cases as of July 18, 2026. Thirty-seven new deaths were reported in the previous 24 hours, marking one of the highest single-day totals. The outbreak, declared in eastern Congo on May 15, is the fastest-growing Ebola outbreak on record. The responsible virus, Bundibugyo, is less common than other Ebola-causing viruses, and there is currently no approved vaccine or treatment available.
