L3Harris to Quadruple THAAD Propulsion Production Under Framework Agreement with DoW and Lockheed Martin
L3Harris Technologies has entered into a multi-year framework agreement with the US Department of War (DoW) and Lockheed Martin to significantly increase propulsion production for the Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) system. The agreement aims to quadruple output of Solid Rocket Boost Motors (SRBMs) and Liquid Divert and Attitude Control Systems (LDACS) over seven years. L3Harris is investing in new facilities across Alabama, Virginia, and Arkansas, adding approximately 1 million square feet of manufacturing space. The expansion is driven by the DoW's Munitions Acceleration Council, which identified THAAD as a key program needing additional propulsion systems. Separately, L3Harris signed a similar framework agreement for the PAC-3 Missile Segment Enhancement (MSE) program, aiming to nearly triple production of propulsion products. The THAAD contract is expected to be finalized later this year and is part of the DoW's Acquisition Transformation Strategy.
