Kozhikode to host 12th edition of Malabar River Festival
The 12th edition of the Malabar River Festival, Asia's premier white-water kayaking event, will be held from July 30 to August 2, 2026, along the Chalipuzha and Iruvanjipuzha rivers in Kozhikode district, Kerala. Over 100 paddlers from India and six countries (New Zealand, Italy, Russia, Malaysia, Nepal, Czech Republic) will compete in disciplines including Kayak Slalom, Boater Cross, and Downriver Race. The event features the National Kayakers' Ranking Championship in partnership with the Indian Kayaking and Canoeing Association. Safety operations are managed by Adventure Sports Systems and Timing, supported by Kerala Police, Fire and Rescue Services, and disaster management teams. Local community engagement included pre-events across eight grama panchayats and Mukkom municipality. The festival will be inaugurated by Agriculture Minister T. Siddique and concluded by Tourism Minister P.C. Vishnunadh.
