Kim Jong Un Inspects North Korean Defense Production Facilities
North Korean leader Kim Jong Un inspected several military industry enterprises to review the fulfillment of defense production plans for the first half of 2026. Accompanied by high-ranking officials from the Workers’ Party of Korea and the Ministry of National Defense, Kim praised workers for achieving record growth in ammunition production, which he stated significantly strengthens the Korean People’s Army's combat capability. However, he also identified structural and infrastructural shortcomings, emphasizing the urgent need to modernize production capacities, optimize technological processes, and improve management efficiency. Key directives included establishing production lines for high-precision multipurpose and special ammunition, strengthening mortar and howitzer units, and creating specialized complexes for artillery piece manufacturing. The inspection aims to accelerate the qualitative, quantitative, and technical transformation of the munitions industry, aligning with the Party's policy of bolstering national defense through scientific quality control and qualified personnel recruitment.
