Khan Academy to provide innovative training to teachers of Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas
Samagra Shiksha, the Andhra Pradesh state education body, has signed a memorandum of understanding with Khan Academy India to enhance education quality in 352 Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas (KGBVs) across the state. Supported by UNICEF, the partnership will provide specialized training to Intermediate-level teachers of Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Botany, and Zoology. Teachers will gain free access to Khanmigo, Khan Academy's AI-powered teaching assistant, enabling advanced digital content and AI-supported instruction. The training will be implemented in phases: first, highly competent Teacher Mentors (TMs) will be selected per subject and receive intensive training; then, remaining subject teachers will be trained on using Khan Academy's digital resources for effective science and mathematics teaching. The initiative aims to promote personalized learning, allowing students to learn at their own pace with technology-enabled classroom instruction. The MoU was signed at the Samagra Shiksha State Office in Vijayawada, attended by officials including State Project Director B. Srinivasa Rao, Khan Academy India's Shubhra Mittal, and UNICEF representatives.
