Kaylee Hottle, the 18-year-old US actor best known for playing Jia in Godzilla vs. Kong and Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire, died in a car accident in the early hours of Tuesday morning in Maryland. The Frederick County Sheriff's Office confirmed the crash, noting excessive speed as a contributing factor. Hottle was one of three passengers in the vehicle. She began acting at age nine, appearing in commercials before being cast as a deaf character in the 2021 blockbuster. She reprised the role in 2024 and earned a Saturn Award nomination. Tributes poured in from co-star Millie Bobby Brown and Oscar-winning actor Marlee Matlin. Her father, in a social media post in American Sign Language, said the family is devastated and that he was traveling to Maryland to bring her body home.
