Jones Beach Replaces Memorial Day Air Show with Patriotic Drone Display
Jones Beach State Park on Long Island will host its first-ever patriotic drone display this Memorial Day weekend, replacing the traditional air show. Scheduled for May 24 at 9 p.m., the 20-minute performance features 1,000 drones synchronized to music, creating 3D images of American symbols like bald eagles and the flag up to 400 feet in the air. The traditional air show, including performances by the Navy Blue Angels, has been moved to the Fourth of July weekend, specifically July 5 and 6. This shift aligns with New York State’s broader celebration of the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence. The July event will also feature the Canadian Snowbirds, US Army Golden Knights, and a fireworks display. Organized by Governor Kathy Hochul and designed by Grizzly Entertainment, the Memorial Day festivities will additionally include Revolutionary War reenactments, historical figures, and family activities. Officials highlight these events as part of the 'Revisit the Revolution' initiative, offering residents unique opportunities to engage with American history while enjoying modern entertainment technologies at state parks.
