James Rodriguez Departs Minnesota United After Six Months
Minnesota United officially announced the departure of Colombian midfielder James Rodriguez on Tuesday evening, just six months after his arrival. The MLS club had an option to extend his contract until December but chose not to activate it. Since joining in January, the 35-year-old former Real Madrid star played only eight matches for the Minneapolis franchise. Now a free agent, Rodriguez will be searching for the 14th club of his professional career. Despite a convincing performance with Colombia at the 2026 World Cup, where they reached the Round of 16, his club situation remains fragile. Since leaving Bayern Munich in 2019, the playmaker has not stayed more than one season at any club, moving through eight different teams in seven years.
