Jamaica FA Cites FIFA Compliance for Cancelling Super Falcons Friendly
The Jamaica Football Federation (JFF) has officially explained the cancellation of a planned international friendly match between its women's national team, the Reggae Girlz, and Nigeria’s Super Falcons. The JFF attributed the decision to strict adherence to FIFA regulations and compliance standards. Specifically, the federation clarified that the proposed match dates in late May 2026 fell outside the official FIFA Women’s International Window, which is scheduled for June 1 to June 9, 2026. Consequently, clubs were not obligated to release players for international duty during the proposed period. The JFF denied reports suggesting the cancellation was due to internal administrative failures, stating that logistical constraints regarding player availability were communicated to organizers from the outset. The fixture, intended to be held in England, was seen as a significant test for both teams. Following this development, the Nigerian Super Falcons are expected to seek alternative warm-up matches as they continue their preparations for the upcoming 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations.
