Inmarsat Maritime Deploys NexusWave on IEA Fishing Vessels for Glaciar Pesquera
Inmarsat Maritime, a subsidiary of Viasat, has collaborated with its Argentinian partner Ingenieros Electrónicos Asociados (IEA) to implement the NexusWave connectivity solution for Glaciar Pesquera. This strategic deployment aims to support the fishing company’s fleetwide objectives of enhancing operational efficiency and improving crew welfare. As a fully managed, bonded multi-network service, NexusWave provides Glaciar Pesquera with predictable costs and performance, addressing previous challenges related to data usage monitoring and unexpected overages. The unlimited, secure, and high-speed nature of the service allows technical teams to focus on strategic tasks rather than managing connectivity issues. Key benefits include enhanced network stability, security, and continuous data synchronization, which facilitate the real-time integration of ship and shore operations. Specifically, vessels such as the Atlantic Surf III and Capesante now function as seamless extensions of the company’s headquarters. Furthermore, the implementation significantly improves the daily lives of seagoing personnel by providing consistent access to digital services. Crew members can now communicate freely with friends and family, sharing messages, audio, photos, and videos without restrictions, thereby boosting morale and connectivity during their time at sea.
