DT Infrastructure Awards TCL Solar 720MW Smoky Creek and Guthrie's Gap Solar Projects in Queensland
DT Infrastructure (DTI) has awarded TCL Solar a module supply contract for Edify Energy's 720MW Smoky Creek and Guthrie's Gap Solar Power Stations in Central Queensland, Australia. Installation is expected to begin in early Q2 2027. The project will deploy TCL Solar Back Contact (BC) modules with efficiencies up to 24.2%, a 30-year performance warranty, and a 15-year product warranty. At 720MWp, these combined solar stations will become the largest solar project globally to utilize back contact technology, marking a milestone for utility-scale solar. The contract builds on SunPower's four decades of Back Contact innovation, following TCL's integration of SunPower into its renewable energy portfolio in March 2025. TCL Solar's Australian office, established since 2008, will support project execution. The project represents a major investment in Australia's renewable energy future and demonstrates growing confidence in BC technology for large-scale infrastructure.
