Indian long jumper Sreeshankar confident of winning two medals at 2026 Commonwealth Games
Indian long jumper M. Sreeshankar, who narrowly missed gold at the 2022 Commonwealth Games, expressed confidence in winning two medals for India at the upcoming Glasgow Commonwealth Games starting July 27. Speaking in a virtual media interaction, the 27-year-old said he is in his best physical condition ever and sees a good opportunity for himself and fellow jumper Lokesh Sathyanathan to medal. Sreeshankar noted that Jamaican rival Wayne Pinnock, the 2023 World Championships silver medalist and Paris 2024 Olympic silver medalist, is unlikely to compete as he switches allegiance to Turkiye. However, 2019 world champion Tajay Gayle is expected to participate. Sreeshankar has been training for three weeks in Spała, Poland, to acclimatize to Glasgow's weather and track conditions, as the facility uses the same Mondo surface as the Games.
