Indian Army and Navy Contingents to Join Seychelles' 50th Independence Day Celebrations
An Indian Army marching contingent of 32 personnel from the Assam Regiment, led by Captain Aryan H. Deolekar, will participate in Seychelles' 50th National Day celebrations on June 29, 2026. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will attend as the Guest of Honour, underscoring strong bilateral ties. An Indian Navy marching contingent with a military band will also join the ceremonial parade. The participation reflects mutual trust, military camaraderie, and the shared commitment to deepen defence cooperation and maritime security in the Indian Ocean Region. India has previously sent contingents to major international events such as the Bastille Day Parade in France (2023) and Victory Day Parades in Bangladesh (2021) and Russia (2015, 2020). Officials stated the engagement reaffirms the special partnership across strategic, economic, and cultural sectors.
