IMAX shares rise after second-quarter earnings surpass expectations
IMAX Corporation reported stronger-than-expected second-quarter results on July 23, 2026, sending shares up over 7% in premarket trading. The company posted adjusted earnings of $0.43 per share, beating the consensus estimate of $0.33, while revenue rose 12% year-over-year to $103 million, exceeding forecasts of $96.45 million. The strong performance was driven by the global debut of Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey, which generated $52 million in its opening weekend and achieved the highest international market share ever for an IMAX release. Net income attributable to common shareholders increased 36% to $15.4 million, with a net profit margin of 15.5% and adjusted EBITDA margin of 46.6%. IMAX also accelerated network expansion, installing 38 new systems in the quarter, bringing its global commercial network to 1,809 systems. Operating cash flow rose 19% to $36 million in the first half of 2026.
