Ikene Fined for Captaincy Debut at FC Rot-Weiß Erfurt
Sofiane Ikene (21), a young professional for FC Rot-Weiß Erfurt, was fined after making his debut as team captain on the first matchday of the Regionalliga Nordost. According to the team's fine catalog, any player serving as captain for the first time must pay a fee, which goes into the team fund for a future team evening. Ikene, who returned from a long-term cruciate ligament injury, expressed honor at receiving the captain's trust. The regular captain, Maxime Awoudja, and vice-captain Til Linus Schwarz were not in the starting lineup, allowing Ikene to lead the team. Separately, the club announced the termination of defender Nathan Fuakala's contract by mutual agreement.
