The Hungarian men's team, coached by Zsolt Varga, secured their spot in the World Cup Super Final in Sydney by winning their group at the Division I tournament in Alexandroupoli, Greece. This follows their silver medal finishes at the previous World Championship and the recent European Championships. Similarly, the women's team, under coach Sándor Cseh, qualified for the World Cup Final after a resilient performance in Rotterdam. Despite fielding a younger squad with four debutants, they defeated reigning world champions Greece to finish fifth in the qualifying tournament.
