Hull City in Talks to Sign Aston Villa Winger Leon Bailey
According to multiple media outlets including the Birmingham Mail and The Athletic UK, newly promoted Premier League club Hull City has initiated formal negotiations with Aston Villa to sign Jamaican winger Leon Bailey. The 28-year-old has been given permission to leave Villa, who prefer a permanent transfer. Bailey's preference is to remain in England due to his children's schooling, despite interest from Turkish club Trabzonspor and La Liga side Celta Vigo. Villa is looking to strengthen their wide options following the impending record £117 million sale of Morgan Rogers to Chelsea. Bailey, who joined Villa from Bayer Leverkusen in 2021 for £30 million, has made 163 appearances for the club with 23 goals and 25 assists. He was an unused substitute in Villa's Europa League final victory over Freiburg last season.
