How to Disable Instagram's New 'Instants' Photo-Sharing Feature

Instagram has introduced a new feature called 'Instants,' designed for sharing ephemeral, raw photos that automatically delete after 24 hours. Similar to Snapchat, this tool allows users to share unedited moments with their network. However, the feature has sparked concern among users because it defaults to sharing photos with all mutual followers ('Friends') rather than allowing individual selection. This lack of granular control means that tapping the shutter button instantly sends the image to everyone on the user's friends list, potentially leading to accidental broad sharing. The interface, located in the DMs feed, offers options for 'Friends' and 'Close Friends,' but the default setting has caught many off guard.
