High school dropout raises $31 million for AI data center liquid cooling monitoring startup Omen AI
Zach Laberge, a 20-year-old high school dropout from Nova Scotia, raised $31 million in Series A funding for his startup Omen AI, which monitors liquid cooling systems in AI data centers. The company's sensors continuously analyze coolant for contamination, metal particles, and bacteria, providing real-time results instead of the traditional days-long lab testing process. This helps prevent costly shutdowns of AI chip clusters. Nava Ventures led the round, with participation from CRV, Sheryl Sandberg, Mann+Hummel, and TensorWave executives. Omen has raised $41.5 million to date and has over a dozen customers, mostly specialized AI cloud providers. The company, founded in 2024, initially targeted construction excavators before pivoting to data centers. Laberge hires for skill over credentials, and most of the 30 employees are college dropouts. The funding will be used to grow the engineering team and scale manufacturing.
