Heaps makes Denver debut in comeback win over Portland
U.S. women's national team captain and Colorado native Lindsey Heaps made her debut for the Denver Summit on July 18, 2026, in a 2-1 comeback win over her former team, the Portland Thorns at Centennial Stadium. Heaps started, played the full 90 minutes, wore the captain's armband, and assisted the game-winning goal in the 86th minute to NWSL rookie Natalie Means, who scored her first career goal. Portland opened the scoring in the 25th minute via a penalty from Sophia Wilson, also a Colorado native. The Summit equalized just before halftime with a stoppage-time goal from Janine Sonis, another Colorado native. The win marked Denver's first points of the season when conceding first. Heaps previously spent six seasons with Portland (2016–22) and five seasons with OL Lyonnes before signing with Denver.
