Gujarat rains displace 38,000; Army and NDRF launch rescue operations
Relentless downpours have paralysed Gujarat for a third consecutive day, displacing 38,000 people primarily from Navsari and Valsad districts. Over 352 people have been rescued by NDRF and Army teams, with two Army columns deployed and four NDRF teams airlifted from Odisha. One death has been officially reported in Tapi district. Rainfall exceeded 400mm in some locations, with Mehmedabad in Kheda recording 507mm in 24 hours. Five trains towards Mumbai were cancelled due to waterlogged railway tracks. Rivers including Ambika, Par, Auranga, and Daman Ganga are overflowing. Schools and colleges in affected districts have been closed, and the state government remains on high alert.
