Global apparel company sells lingerie brand after sales declines
Switzerland-based Calida Group has sold its luxury lingerie brand Cosabella to New York-based Crown Brands Group, closing the deal on July 23, 2026. The sale includes the Cosabella trademark, intellectual property rights, and inventory, though financial terms were not disclosed. Calida acquired Cosabella for $80 million in 2022 but struggled to reverse sales declines despite a 2024 restructuring. Cosabella's net sales dropped approximately 37% to 4.3 million Swiss francs ($5.25 million), accounting for just 4.6% of group revenue. Calida Group's half-year 2026 report showed net sales fell nearly 8% and net income declined roughly 12%, citing weaker consumer confidence, economic uncertainty, and price sensitivity in European markets. The sale is part of Calida's multi-year strategy to simplify its portfolio and focus on core brands Calida and Aubade. CEO Thomas Stöcklin stated the transaction creates operational and financial flexibility for strategic development.
