LA Galaxy sign Japanese striker Kyōgo Furuhashi from Birmingham City
The LA Galaxy have signed Japanese striker Kyōgo Furuhashi from Birmingham City, according to multiple sources. Furuhashi, who led the Scottish Premiership in goals with 27 in the 2022-23 season while at Celtic, struggled in the English Championship with only one goal in 28 appearances after moving to Birmingham for €9 million last summer. The 5-foot-7 striker will join the Galaxy immediately and will not require a designated player spot. He has 23 caps for Japan but was not selected for the 2026 World Cup squad. The Galaxy, currently ninth in the Western Conference, recently sold winger Gabriel Pec to Cruzeiro for a club-record fee. Their leading scorer João Klauss has been out since April with an injury but is expected to return after the World Cup break.
