Frasers Group acquires Greaves Sports
Frasers Group has acquired Greaves Sports, a 96-year-old Scottish retailer operating a single store in Glasgow and an e-commerce website. Greaves Sports assured customers that its Gordon Street store and online store will remain under the Greaves brand with the same service levels, and that all gift cards and loyalty points will remain valid. Frasers Group stated the purchase reinforces its commitment to investing in Scotland and providing greater customer choice and enhanced in-store experiences. The conglomerate will continue to trade under the Greaves branding. The acquisition comes as Frasers Group reported an 8.7% year-on-year revenue increase to £5.33bn for fiscal year 2026, driven by international expansion. Separately, Frasers recently initiated a voluntary public cash offer to acquire full ownership of Hugo Boss, valuing the transaction at around €1.98bn, though Hugo Boss boards rejected the offer as inadequate. Analyst David Hughes of Shore Capital noted that while M&A drove higher revenues, trading margins were hit by impairments to acquired assets, raising questions about acquisition pricing.
