Former Uruguayan football prospect Mario Bruno Bentancor dies at 22 after stealing clothes during trial in Argentina
Mario Bruno Bentancor, a 22-year-old Uruguayan forward who was once a prospect at Peñarol and most recently played for amateur side Deportivo Italiano, died on Wednesday from cardiorespiratory arrest. Days before his death, he had traveled to Buenos Aires for a trial at Argentine first-division club Deportivo Riestra. He was not selected and reportedly stole clothes belonging to teammates during his stay. His death was confirmed by Deportivo Italiano, which paid tribute to him in a social media post, referring to him affectionately as 'Bola' and saying he would live on in the club's heart.
